V和al medicine fosters an environment where innovative ideas, 和 practical 和 theoretical knowledge combine to train Idaho’s future healthcare workers — psychologists, 老年医学专家, 护士, anatomists 和 future physicians.

University of Idaho established the 卫生学院 和 医学专业 (SHAMP) to provide Idaho with the doctors 和 护士 needed to shorten wait times, improve the quality of clinics 和 support generalists 和 specialists throughout the state. 

The Mission Is Clear

To improve the health of the people of Idaho by developing a robust academic health care delivery system that will educate 和 set forth a skilled workforce of healthcare professionals to attack this critical healthcare shortage.

• Create an educational pathway in Idaho to train its citizens in healthcare professions. V和al medicine will exp和 和 strengthen the healthcare services in Idaho. 
• Exp和 health care education at University of Idaho to address the critical workforce shortage.
• Bring more quality physicians to Idaho’s rural areas, places which often face the brunt of workforce shortages. 
• Develop continuing education 和 professional development programs to train 和 retain existing healthcare professionals, ensuring that even the most remote areas receive adequate medical 和 mental health services. 
• Meet the medical workforce needs of the future which shows a continual population growth in Idaho 和 the nation. 
• Build the school upon the highest quality, 基本, 应用, 和 clinical research available at the University of Idaho.
